Shipping Services

When shipping overseas, your goods are ultimately held inside large steel containers. These sea containers are either 20 feet or 40 feet long and are loaded onto giant vessels capable of carrying 2000 or more of them.  We have three different services available for moving your effects as follows:

FCL (means full container load).

If you have the whole contents of a 3 bedroom house or more you can be sure that this is the most cost effective service for you. Typically the contents of a light to average furnished three bed house will fit inside a 20ft container whilst a 40ft container can carry the typical contents of 5 bedroom house, larger properties may require a combination of container types. Providing there is good vehicle access outside your home we can arrange to position a sea container directly outside and immediatly load your goods into it. Once loading is finished we place a security seal on the doors and the container is transported to departure port ready for loading onto the appropriate vessel. If there are parking constrains outside your home we will shuttle the goods from your home to the container via smaller trucks. The FCL service provides the quickest transit time for your international removal and is economically beneficial after 50% capacity of a 20ft is required.

LCL (means less than a container load).

For volumes that occupy less than 50% capacity of a 20ft container but where quick transit times are required this service could be an option. After export packing goods we return them to our depot and load into wooden crates (called 'lift vans'). The liftvans are then immediatly taken to a consolidator and co-loaded to the next container bound for your destination.

Loose Groupage.

Loose groupage is an excellent value, low cost shipping service ideal for smaller consignments where speed of transit is not the priority. We return your goods to warehouse and consolidate together with other household effects bound for the same destination. When there is enough volume to fill a whole sea container we load all the consignments together and strictly controll the process with inventory checks. This service is only available for high volume destinations. After assessing the volume of your goods, budget and timing priorities we will make a service type recommendation that suits your needs and issue a detailed quotation. Our international removal quote will state a typical transit time based on the service level and final destination.

This group of images shows the typical processes involved when moving overseas with Kelly's shipping services.  Some of the high volume traffic lanes may offer several types of shipping service; consutants at Kelly's will assess your requirements and make the best recommendation based on service level criteria.  When sending personal effects by sea there can be up to three different transport modes available as follows: Whole use of 20ft or 40ft shipping containers (FCL), sending goods as crated part loads (LCL), and for certain high volume destinations we can offer a low cost part load service (Loose Groupage).
