Air Freight

For very small consignments or urgent items, Kelly's can arrange an efficient door to door air service. If you only have a few boxes to send it is sometimes the case that air freight is about the same cost a sending goods by sea. For convenience, clients with young families sometimes forward essential items by air ahead of their sea shipment.

To ensure your goods arrive safely at destination Kelly's will prepare the consignment to withstand the journey as follows:

We export pack your effects at residence and return to our warehouse
Your consignment is then overcarded, mounted onto a pallet, securly strapped with steel banding, shrink wrapped for water proofing and labelled. Do not be tempted to choose air freight companies that believe this preparation is not needed. Airline workers are not experts in household goods, just watch how suitcases are loaded onto airplanes! If your goods are properly mounted on pallets there is no chance of the contents inside being separated; handling of pallets becomes a mechanised activity thereby eliminating the risk of throwing or dropping by untrained human hands.
We weigh and measure the prepared consignment to ensure the air freight costs will fall within your budget. Variances over budget will be reported to you for permission to continue before despatch.

The charging formula used by the airline industry is based on the gross weight or volume of the prepared consignment whichever is the greater amount. In other words, 1cubic meter of feathers would be charged according its volume whereas 1cubic meter of stone would be charged by its actual weight. This airline formula measurement is referred to as 'Chargeable kilos'.
