Low emission trucks aquired by Kelly's
Kelly’s have taken delivery of their first Euro 5 low emissions removal vehicles. The first, a Mercedes Axor uses the latest BlueTec SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology which greatly exceeds the standards required for the forthcoming Low Emissions Zone (LEZ) scheme planned for central London from February 2008. From 2008 until January 2012 the majority heavy goods vehicles entering central London will have to meet at least Euro 3 emissions standards, vehicles that do not comply can incur fines from £250 to £1000 per day depending on vehicle weight.
Kelly's most recent addition to the fleet (Euro 5 Iveco Eurocargo) also features new lightweight 'Carbofont' body panels to improve carrying capacity and fuel consumption.
Currently all of Kelly’s International removal vehicles meet at least Euro 3 standards; however it is planned to upgrade the whole fleet to Euro 5 standard within 3 years. Apart from improving air quality in London, investments in new vehicles greatly improve mechanical reliability and therefore ‘on time arrival’ statistics remain high; this is a key requirement in relocation transport.
